Introducing Music Sector Six (MS6)
Music Sector Six (MS6) is incorporated as a non-profit company for the public benefit in accordance with the Companies Act, 2008 and the Income Tax Act, 1962. It operates strictly on a non-profit basis and does not pursue any activities for the financial gain of any individual.
MS6’s primary mandate is to function as the national coordinating, representative and development entity for the South African music sector. The organisation is tasked with addressing fragmentation, enhancing transformation, improving sector governance, and building equitable access to opportunities across all provinces, disciplines, and genres.
The organisation’s work encompasses sector transformation, regulatory development, education and training, infrastructure expansion, intellectual property protection, internationalisation, and legislative advocacy.
MS6 works alongside the Department of Sport, Arts and Culture (DSAC), Parliament, and other regulatory stakeholders to strengthen transparency, ethics, rights protection, and professionalisation within the national music ecosystem.

Inaugural Address: A New Era for South Africa's Music Economy
In his inaugural address, MS6 Chairperson Lungile Jacobs Ka-Nyamezele outlined a transformative vision for the South African music industry, calling for a new social contract with corporate South Africa and positioning artists as enterprises with intellectual property and global market potential.

MS6 Engages Mpumalanga Music Sector in Provincial Visit
Music Sector Six conducted a provincial engagement in Nelspruit, Mpumalanga, bringing together provincial government, regional music leadership, and MS6 council members to strengthen coordination and support for the local recording industry.

Breaking Barriers: Including Musicians with Disabilities in the South African Music Industry
John Milolo, Director of MS6 Disability Directorate, delivered a powerful address on disability inclusion in the music sector during MS6's Limpopo provincial visit, calling for accessibility audits, economic opportunities, and systemic change to unlock the talents of musicians with disabilities.
